Hyderabad, June 15, 2025:
As part of the observances for the sacred month of Muharram, Congress MLC Amer Ali Khan, along with Minister for Minorities Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar and Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar, visited the revered site of Bibi-Ka-Alawa in the Old City on Saturday.
The visit, held in the backdrop of Telangana's rich spiritual and cultural traditions, aimed to honour the historical and religious importance of the location. Bibi-Ka-Alawa is a prominent symbolic site during the Muharram commemorations and holds special significance for Shia Muslims in Hyderabad and beyond.
The ministers interacted with local community members and representatives of religious organizations, assuring them of the government's commitment to protecting and promoting Telangana's pluralistic ethos. They also reviewed arrangements related to Muharram processions, including safety, sanitation, and traffic regulation.
Speaking on the occasion, MLC Amer Ali Khan emphasized the importance of fostering unity and mutual respect among all communities. “This is a time for reflection, remembrance, and reaffirming our values of justice and sacrifice. The Telangana government is committed to upholding religious harmony and honouring the sentiments of all communities,” he stated.
Local leaders and residents expressed appreciation for the visit, seeing it as a gesture of solidarity and reassurance that the state values their heritage and religious practices.
The event concluded with special prayers for peace, social justice, and communal harmony across Telangana.
