Hyderabad, June 13, 2025:
A large-scale protest was organised today by the Telangana Muslim Advocates Forum at Haj House, Nampally, following Friday prayers. The demonstrators, led by Forum State President Alhaj Moulvi Waheed Ahmed Advocate, demanded the resignation of Congress MLC Amer Ali Khan, accusing him and the Congress-led state government of neglecting minority interests and allowing an ideological shift towards RSS-aligned policies.
Participants, including Vice President Khwaja Mohd Ayazuddin Advocate, General Secretary Mir Wajid Ali Khan Advocate, Secretary Mohammad Sajid Ali Advocate, and others, proceeded in a peaceful march to the MLC’s office. Protesters raised slogans of “Congress Down, Down!” to express their dissatisfaction.
In a strongly worded press note, Alhaj Moulvi Waheed Ahmed Advocate said that the Congress high command and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had reduced their platforms to a mere “love shop,” using symbolic gestures like wearing prayer caps and holding annual Iftar events. He accused the government of openly ignoring minorities and maintaining a superficial representation strategy to secure Muslim votes. He warned that true justice and equity would be tested in the elections over the next three years.
“The RSS government is running in Telangana in the face of Congress,” he asserted, claiming that Muslims—Telangana’s largest minority—remain marginalised and exploited for electoral gains.
The Advocates Forum’s protest reflects growing frustration among minority legal professionals and civil society activists, urging elected leaders to deliver more than performative gestures and ensure tangible reforms for minority welfare.
